Specialising in reputation, crisis and issues management communications, Sue Stapely FIPR FRSA is thought to be the UK's only solicitor providing comprehensive strategic communications counsel, with unrivalled experience, particularly working in the legal sector.
A former BBC Television programme maker, turned politician, broadcaster and solicitor, Sue was Head of Public Relations at the Law Society of England and Wales before moving into consultancy, as a director of Fishburn Hedges, the award-winning London communications and design consultancy.
She now operates independently after working regularly for a decade with Quiller Consultants (www.quillerconsultants.com) and Edge International (www.edge.ai). Her clients come from all walks of life and range from major international law firms and their clients to household name businesses and high profile individuals. Her work is primarily discreetly defending and maintaining the reputations of organisations and individuals facing damaging issues and press exposure, often as a result of coming into contact with the law. She also provides training and coaching in all media and communications skills.
Her extra-curricular activities are mainly in the arts. She is a Trustee of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, a board member of the Media Standards Trust and of Brighton Dome & Festival. Formerly she was a board member of the government’s Countryside Agency, on the Development Council of the Royal Court Theatre, on the National Consumer Council’s Advisory Board and on a NHS Trust. She’s also a Fellow of the Institute of Public Relations and of the Royal Society for the Arts, a member of International Women’s Forum, the Law Society and the Media Society.
